Our Staff

Andy Baker D.V.M.
Dr. Baker is our referral surgeon who works in San Marcos exclusively in our hospital, as his services are needed. He received his D.V.M. in 1966 from Oklahoma State University. After serving two years in the USAF Veterinary Corps, he completed a two year surgical internship at Texas A&M University. After 6 years of general practice, Dr. Baker established a surgical referral practice in Houston.

In 1980 Dr. Baker, an avid pilot, began flying to the Rio Grande Valley to perform orthopedic procedures for local veterinarians and their clients at Nolana Animal Hospital under Doctors Steve Bentsen and Jeff Jorgensen. After years of commuting to the valley he joined the practice in 1989. Once Dr. Jorgensen was established in San Marcos, Dr. Baker resumed his flying practice and began performing specialty surgeries at Hays County Animal Hospital.

Dr. Baker is somewhat of a celebrity in that he lectures at veterinary meetings on orthopedic surgery and medicine. His current interest is in total hip replacements for dogs with hip dysplasia (www.scubamom.com/akita). He adds another dimension to veterinary care in Hays County as surgeries that were referred to larger cities are now repaired more economically at Hays County Animal Hospital in San Marcos.

Our Support Staff
These folks are the oil that maintains our finely tuned facility. Two of our former staff members are currently in veterinary school, a fact that underscores the quality of our employees. Our current staff have over 25years of experience between them and they are willing to assist you with any problems or questions you may have.
